On Saturday the 24.05.14, I went for the 4th time to Obermarchtal, to participate at the Marchtal Bike Marathon.
In the last years, I was able to get better and faster within every year, over the middle distance of 54km and 920m of altitude. Well, my anticipation for this year’s race was very high, after my 18th overall last year.
Sadly, it rained before the start and so, my mood became worse, but for the start the sun came out again, but the previous rain caused a lot of crashes on the wet and dirty road over the first meters.
After 4km, I felt really good, but the guy ahead of me, made a flase move, hit his brakes in a 90degree curve and crashed, I tried to avoid to hit him, but I crashed as well.
My left arm was bleeding and my thigh and my butt hurt a lot, first I try to ride on, but than I remarked, the crash destroyed my shifter. I tried to go on for about 15km, in this time I lost 2times my chain and had to fix it. Well, after 20km finally, I gave up and cancelled the race.
After I was helped by the ambulance in their tent, and visiting of the empty bike wash, I was able to take a look at the finish of the middle and long distance race
Now, I´m looking forward fort he race in Albstadt next weekend and hopefully without a crash
