No, I didn´t planned my start at the MTB-Marathon at the Tegernsee for long.
In today´s date, you have to be flexible for the requirements of the environment and you have to be quite spontaneous with your choice at the always changing possibilities. What means here: Let´s get our asses to the Tegernsee…
The spontaneous requirements came with the finishing of the race in Riva del Garda. Their I was being asked, by the Country manager of Niner Bikes, if I want to have a free start ticket for the MTB.Marathon race at the tegernsee.
I asked for some time to think about it. I had to move some dates, but than I made my decision. Yes, Tegernsee, we´re cming. The only bad thing was, that I received a cold justs 10 days before the start and until Saturday, I still was in the No way mood…
But, as the matter of fact, that we were already there and the weather was good…
…I decided myself on Saturday afternoon to participate, after I inspected the course, but on the short distance.
On Sunday morning I met my beloved leopard again, Katrin Schwing.
Starting signal and off weg o. First long part over bitumen, all flat, leaving the limits of Rottach-Egern. Damn, I thought, fast start. For a short moment, I tried faster, but than I remarked that I had to catch my breath and slowed down a bit again. Than, I found my rhythm. I didn´got any technical problems, besides just one, a steep downhill part, at the end. Really steep. On gravel. And on this section, I lost the 3rd place in my AG, what I didn’t know at this moment. But at least,…no crash. On the home straight, a sprint, I lost it, but afterwards I won it, because of the real starting time.
At the end, I ended up on the 8th place overall and 4th in my AG. Not bad, or what?

Next station: Estavayer-le-Lac, Switzerland.
